WELCOME
I am Helen; I developed Autistic Realms to advocate for a better understanding of neurodivergence and mental health in education.

I am late identified autistic, a parent and a qualified primary teacher with over 20 years of experience working in SEN settings. I specialised in working with children who have profound and multiple learning disabilities and also providing family support.
I have two children who are also neurodivergent. I have lived experience of juggling parenting alongside a career, mental health issues, and navigating the education system from both sides, as a teacher and a parent.

I have had the privilege of working alongside some fantastic and inspiring children, families, and professionals, many of whom I continue to learn from. I value working as part of an interdisciplinary team, and this collaborative embodied approach to education and physical and mental health is essential.

To enable the best outcomes, we must provide space and time to develop connections and understand needs.

Autistic Realms reflects my experiences and interpretation of the knowledge and resources I have personally found valuable. I am not a psychologist or medical professional; please seek advice if you need further support.
I am a qualified SEN teacher. I offer education consultancy, family support work related to education. I provide writing and resource creation services for professionals and organisations focusing on autism, teaching and supporting children, young people and their families.

I hope you find my work valuable.
